Fused deposition modeling (FDM) is an additive manufacturing technology commonly used for modeling, prototyping, and production applications.

The technology was developed by S. Scott Crump in the late 1980s and was commercialized in 1990. Fused deposition modelling allows the creation of robust 3D models in ABS and Polycarbonate based plastics. The models are widely used for prototyping and visualisation during the design process.  Our machine is an MC200 which has a working envelope of 200mm x 200mm x 300mm and will produce models in various colours in ABS only. The models are produced from 3D stl files generated in any 3D cad program such as Solidworks.
